US Senate to Vote on Bill Terminating President Trump’s Emergency Declaration
Details
A vote on the House-passed bill terminating President Trump’s emergency declaration is expected in the US Senate soon. Debate on the bill is scheduled to begin on Thursday. The Republicans stood with President Trump in the US House when HJ Res 46 was voted on, it doesn’t look as promising in the US Senate. Several GOP Senators have announced they will vote for HR Res 46 terminating President Trump’s emergency declaration. Remember this declaration was issued in order for President Trump to have access to money to build the wall on the southern border. There have been 58 national emergencies called by presidents since 1979. Thirty-one of those national emergencies are still in effect.
Action Steps
Contact Senator Bob Casey, Jr. and Senator Pat Toomey and ask them a few questions, such as “How can a nation remain a nation if it has an open border?” “How can allowing criminals, gang members and terrorists into our country be safe for Americans?”
