November 9, 2016 — First day to register after November election

November 15, 2016 — Last day for County Board of Elections to receive voted military and overseas ballots. (must be postmarked no later than November 2nd)

Action Steps

Unsure if you are registered?  You can check here

You can download a voter registration form  here (mail to your county voter registration office; must be postmarked by October 11th) or you can register online here

Not sure whether to register as a Democrat or Republican — check out our republican-vs-democrat-party-platforms-2016 comparison.

Are you incapacitated or will be out of your voting district on election day?  You can apply for an absentee ballot.  You can download the application here.   This must be received by your county voter registration office by November 1st and they will mail you a ballot.  Fill out the ballot and return to your county voter registration office by November 4th — it must be in their hand by that date and cannot simply be postmarked November 4th.   Because of the mailing back and forth that is involved, it is better to apply for your absentee ballot early!   More details can be found here
