AFA of PA ACTION ALERT
September 17, 2015
Issue
Two Items: 1.) Today is Constitution Day and 2.) Look Who Supports Homosexual Special Rights
Details
1.) On May 25, 1787 the Constitutional Convention met at the Pennsylvania State House (Independence Hall). The weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation had been realized during the War for Independence and now that the war was over the weaknesses became even more pronounced. The delegates’ goal was to revise the Article, but it soon became evident that effort was impossible. On September 17, 1787, the United States Constitution was adopted and signed and the ratification process began immediately. This process ended on May 29, 1790 when the thirteenth colony, Rhode Island, ratified the Constitution.
2.) The actual bills to add “sexual orientation and gender identity or expression” to the PA Human Relations Act are now posted on the state website. The Senate version is SB 974 and the House version is HB 1510. Click on the bill numbers to see who the sponsors of the bill were at the time of their introduction. More may have become co-sponsors to these ill-advised bills, since their introduction.
