Details
The “Fairness Act” – HB 1404 – was introduced and referred to the House State Government Committee on May 6th. Since then SB 224 and SB 614 have been introduced in the State Senate. These bills would add ‘sexual orientation and gender identity or expression” to the PA Human Relations Act impacting employment, housing and public accommodations.”
The bills promise “economic growth and prosperity” if passed. No reports have proven this statement to be true in other states that have passed such discriminatory bills. What we do know is these type laws open women’s bathrooms to men, force health clubs and local Ys to open women’s locker and shower rooms to men, employers with four or more employees must allow employees to “adhere to the dress or grooming standards that are consistent with the employee’s gender identity or expression.” There are no clear protections for churches or other religious institutions.
The PA Human Relations Commission would work with the PA Department of Education to “recommend a multicultural educational program . . . to promote cultural understanding and appreciation and to further good will among all persons without regard to . . . sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.”
Nothing in the bill protects the religious right of conscience of Christian business owners or doctors who do not want to play into this agenda. This means Christian business owners would be forced to provide cakes, flowers, photography, etc. for so-called same-sex weddings. Christian doctors would be forced to engage in the removal or mutilation of healthy body parts in order for a child or adult to “become their true self” by transitioning to the opposite gender.
As you know over one hundred businesses have grouped together to attack Tennessee for passing a law to protect religious adoption agencies from being forced to place children in same-sex households. Well, the same thing is happening in Pennsylvania as businesses have signed on in support of passing this discriminatory “non-discrimination” law. Check it out here Do you frequent any of these businesses? Notice Dunkin Donuts isn’t on the list — the one in Bethlehem (which has passed a local LGBT -affirming ordinance) is being sued by a former “transgender” employee because he was “misgendered” and prohibited from using the women’s bathroom. That’s what these ordinances really do!
Action Steps
Sign the petition opposing HB 1404, SB 224 and SB 614 — which would allow men in women’s bathrooms and locker rooms and force Christian bakers, florists, etc. to use their God-given talents to participate in same-sex “weddings.”
