“Duck Dynasty” Patriarch Attacked by the ‘Tolerant’ Folks- Leads to A&E Suspension
Details
Yesterday the January 2014 edition of GQ magazine was available online and the story that got everyone’s attention was the interview with Phil Robertson, the patriarch in the A&E reality TV show Duck Dynasty. Here’s the story (WARNING: the writer of the story uses some vulgar language). The writer, Drew Magary, notes: “The show is merely the platform. The end goal is to save souls.”
Phil Robertson comments, “Everything is blurred on what’s right and what’s wrong,” he says. “Sin becomes fine.”
Mr. Magary asks, “What, in your mind, is sinful?”
And then Phil Robertson commits the unpardonable sin in the eyes of homosexual activists, he calls their unnatural behavior sin:
“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men,” he says. Then he paraphrases Corinthians: “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”
The NAACP, which has become increasingly pro-homosexual, and the nation’s largest homosexual lobby organization, the Human Rights Campaign wrote a joint letter to the president of A&E expressing “outrage and deep concern about the recent racist, homophobic, and ill-informed remarks made by Phil Robertson. . . . his offensive claims about gay people fly in the face of science. In fact, it’s important to note that every single leading medical organization in the country has said that there is absolutely nothing wrong with being LGBT — it’s not a choice, and to suggest otherwise is dangerous.”
It doesn’t matter that Phil Robertson makes it clear that he is leaving the judging up to God, “We never, ever judge someone on who’s going to heaven, hell. That’s the Almighty’s job. We just love ’em, give ’em the good news about Jesus—whether they’re homosexuals, drunks, terrorists. We let God sort ’em out later, you see what I’m saying?”
GLAAD, the Gay, Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation said on their website: “Robertson’s GQ comments included some of the vilest and most extreme statements uttered against LGBT people in a mainstream publication and were littered with outdated stereotypes and blatant misinformation.”
Last night, less than 24 hours after the publication went online, A&E announced they were indefinitely suspending Phil Robertson from the show. GLAAD’s Wilson Cruz responded, “What’s clear is that such hateful anti-gay comments are unacceptable to fans, viewers, and networks alike. By taking quick action and removing Robertson from future filming, A&E has sent a strong message that discrimination is neither a Christian nor an American value.”
So, Christians can no longer quote Scripture or even say engaging in homosexual acts is sinful without being called bigoted, hateful and lose their job! When was the First Amendment removed from the Bill of Rights??
