AFA of PA ACTION ALERT

Issue
Thank Senator Kim Ward
Details
On May 2nd, HB 300, the bill to add sexual orientation and gender identity or expression to the PA Human Relations Act, thus equating homosexuality, bisexuality, transgenderism and any other orientation they can think of to race and ethnicity, passed in the State House by a vote of 102-98. The bill has been referred to the Senate State Government Committee.
As a reminder: the May vote on HB 300 was mostly along party lines:
Two GOP voted for it – Aaron Kaufer (serving Luzerne County – part) and Alec Ryncavage (serving Luzerne County – part)
(Rep Joe Emrick (R ) was excused for the day)
One Democrat – Frank Burns (serving Cambria County – part)– voted against it
Remember the PA Human Relations Act impacts employment, housing and public accommodations. Passage of HB 300 would open all bathrooms, locker rooms and shower facilities to the sexually confused. There are no religious exemptions, thus passage would force Christian bakers, florists and photographers, who do provide services to homosexuals in other settings, to also provide their services in the celebration of a same-sex “wedding.” It would also force Christian schools and all daycares to hire homosexuals and those who identify as the opposite sex. The Philadelphia Gay News is blaming one person for the bill not yet being voted on in the State Senate saying, “So, is this woman campaigning to be the worst homophobe in Pennsylvania? Well, yes, I guess so, since she also stands in the way of the Pennsylvania Fairness Act.” The author of this Philly Gay News article is speaking of Senate Pro-Temp Kim Ward (R-39). She is under a lot of pressure to move this dangerous bill. She’s also up for re-election this year.
