US Senate Democrats Try to Push Abortion Up to Birth
Details Tonight US GOP Senators were able to stop the Democrats from pushing a taxpayer funded abortion up to birth bill. S 4554, the Reproductive Freedom for Women Act, was brought forward for a cloture vote by Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY). This meant he had to get a super majority (60) of senators to vote ‘yea’ in order to advance the bill to a floor vote. The vote was 49-44, with all Democrats and two Republicans (Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Susan Collins (R-ME) voting ‘yea’. There were seven “Not Voting”: 4 Republicans, 2 Democrats and 1 Independent.
Action Steps
“Pro-life” Senator Bob Casey, Jr. and Senator John Fetterman were not co-sponsors of the bill, but they willingly marched in lockstep with the Democrats to vote in favor of it. Let them know your thoughts on their vote by clicking here
