Details
1.) Today the Senate began debate on the confirmation of Solicitor General Elena Kagan for the United States Supreme Court. Here are a few videos that give you a snapshot of who Elena Kagan is. Her judicial philosophy. Partial birth abortion- did she write the memo to change the meaning? (This apparent falsifying of medical documents has led the founder of Judicial Watch to say he will file a complaint to have Elena Kagan disbarred. ) Her views on ‘Natural Law” and Second Amendment and blocking military recruiters at the Harvard School of Law.
2.) The national office of the AFA has called for a boycott of Home Depot
3.) The “Listen” page on our website is finally updated and you can now listen to all the archived programs for this year.
Action Steps
1.) Contact Senators Arlen Specter and Bob Casey, Jr. and ask them to vote ‘no’ on Elena Kagan’s confirmation. Senator Specter voted ‘no’ on her confirmation for Solicitor General, but now says she said ‘just enough’ during confirmation hearings to get his ‘yes’ vote for Supreme Court. Click here.
A Senator may feel constitutionally obligated to confirm a President’s cabinet member or advisor to help the President fulfill his agenda, but is not constitutionally obligated to automatically confirm a President’s choice for life time judicial appointment such as the United States Supreme Court.
Because the confirmation of a Supreme Court Justice will affect the entire nation for possibly decades to come we need to contact other Senators who are sitting on the fence. Here are some to contact to ask them to vote ‘no’ on Kagan’s confirmation:
a.) Senator Lindsey Graham (SC) 202.224.5972 or Columbia District office 803-903-0112 (Graham was the only Republican to vote for Kagan in the Senate Judiciary Committee).
b.) Senator Blanche Lincoln (AR) 202.224. 4843 or Little Rock Office 501-375-2993
c.) Senator Scott Brown (MA) 202-224-4543 or Boston Office 617-565-3170
d.) Senator Evan Bayh (IN) 202-224-5623 or Indianapolis Office 317-226-5555
e.) Senator Michael Bennett (CO) 202-224-5852 or Denver Office 303-455-7600
f.) Senator Kent Conrad (ND) 202-224-2043 or Bismark Office 701-258-4648
2.) Sign the Home Depot Boycott Pledge and contact your local Home Depot to let them know you are participating in the boycott and why.
