Update on HB 300 and HB 1800
Details
HB 300 – adding ‘sexual orientation , gender identity or expression’ to the PA Human Relations Act impacting employment, housing and public accommodations. Even the primary sponsor of the bill, open homosexual Malcolm Kenyatta, recognizes the bill currently does not have the votes to pass! However, there’s the real possibility they will try to sneak it through as an amendment to another bill! So, keep praying and keep alert!
HB 1800 – would strike the line in state law saying that marriage is “between one man and one woman” as well as the clause declaring that same-sex marriages from other jurisdictions will not be honored in Pennsylvania. The law has not been enforced since the 2015 US Supreme Court ruling in Obergefell, in which the Court overstepped its constitutional limits and threw out all states’ marriage laws. It was clearly a Tenth Amendment violation!
This bill passed in the State House by a vote of 127 to 72. The ‘yea’ vote included 26 Republicans and the ‘nay’ votes include one Democrat – Frank Burns (D-Cambria). Here are the 26 Republicans who voted to redefine marriage in PA law along with the county or partial counties they serve: Jamie Barton (R-Berks, Schuylkill)
Timothy Bonner (R-Butler, Mercer)
Sheryl Delozier (R-Cumberland)
Joe Emrick (R-Northampton)
Jamie Flick (R-Lycoming, Union)
Ann Flood (R-Northampton)
Jonathan Fritz (R-Susquehanna, Wayne)
Valerie Gaydos (R-Allegheny)
Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon)
Joe Hogan (R-Bucks)
Mike Jones (R-York)
Thomas Kutz (R-Cumberland)
Shelby Labs (R-Bucks)
Milou Mackenzie (R-Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton)
Abby Major (R-Armstrong Westmoreland)
Zackery Mako (R-Lehigh, Northampton)
Kristin Marcell (R-Bucks)
Thomas Mehaffie III (R-Dauphin)
Natalie Mihalek (R- Allegheny, Washington)
Marci Mustello (R-Butler)
Eric Nelson (R-Westmoreland)
Brenda Pugh (R-Luzerne)
Alec Ryncavage (R-Luzerne)
Jeremy Shaffer (R-Allegheny)
