Today the American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA) delivered over 2300 petitions from concerned Pennsylvanians to Governor Corbett’s Northwest Regional Office. The petitioners are asking Governor Corbett to appeal Judge John Jones’ May 20th decision which declared our Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) unconstitutional.

Under current law, high school students beginning with the class of 2017 (those currently entering sophomore year) will have to pass high-stakes Keystone Graduation Exams in three subject areas (Algebra I, Biology and Language Arts) in order to earn a diploma. These are developed with no input from teachers teaching those courses. This will simply lead to more “teaching to the test.”

Just a few days ago Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal signed legislation requiring doctors performing abortions to have admitting privileges within a 30 mile radius of the abortion facility. A bill has been introduced in Harrisburg, HB 1762, which would require the same thing, but the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Representative Ron Marsico, is hesitating to run it.
