Action Alert: Ask Your State Rep to Oppose Same-Sex “Marriage”

Last Thursday a bill to legalize same-sex “marriage” was introduced in the State House by open homosexual State Representative Brian Sims (D-182) and Rep. Steve McCarter (D-154). The bill was modeled after Senator Daylin Leach’s (D-17) SB 719 which was introduced in March. The Sims/McCarter bill is HB 1686. The text of the bill is not available, therefore the list of co-sponsors of the bill is not available to the public. During a news conference last week introducing the bill, it was announced there were 31 co-sponsors.

News Release: Governor Corbett Needs to Tell It Like It Is

Last week Governor Tom Corbett gave another example of illegal marriage in Pennsylvania — that between a brother and sister. His facts are correct as are those included in the legal brief of the Counsel General filed in the Montgomery County Register of Wills’ case. However those comments were deemed “inappropriate” by Governor Corbett. The American Family Association of Pennsylvania’s (AFA of PA) advice to Governor Corbett: tell it like it is and don’t sway from the moral aspect of this issue.

Action Alert – 5 PA Congressmen Caving on Effort to Defund Obamacare

President Obama met with Congressional leaders last evening to discuss reopening the government and raising the debt limit. Nothing was accomplished. However, there is word out that 18 “moderate” Republicans are scheming to partner with Democrats to offer a ‘clean’ continuing resolution that would simply fund the government but strip the Obamacare defunding language. This list includes five Pennsylvanians: Charlie Dent, Patrick Meehan, Michael Fitzpatrick, Lou Barletta and Jim Gerlach.

AFA of PA Action Alert – Fighting Pornography Addiction

I attended a meeting in our nation’s capitol last week and during that meeting the trailer, as well as a 30 minute segment, of a documentary were shown. It dealt with the negative impact of pornography — specifically addressing the porn problem within the church. Porn addiction, in general, is a subject that is largely being ignored, but most definitely it is being ignored within the church. How can a pastor or other church leader address a sin in which they are involved? They can’t and won’t. Thus the problem is growing within the church and many are left with a feeling of hopelessness. This documentary, The Heart of the Matter, provides insight into the porn problem within the church, the impact on individuals and marriages and the church as a whole. It also provides hope.

News Release: Attorney is Wrong in Seeking Activist Court Decision

As the fourth challenge to Pennsylvania’s Defense of Marriage Act was filed in court yesterday, an attorney involved in one of the lawsuits expressed his desire for an activist court to force the legislature to legalize so-called same-sex marriage. The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), a statewide advocate for one man one woman true marriage, expressed outrage over the suggestion of an unconstitutional mixing of powers between the legislative and judicial branches.
