Action Alert: Will Your School Permit Silence Tomorrow?

Tomorrow is the Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network’s Day of Silence in which participating middle and high school students are to remain silent throughout the school day in order to show support for “disenfranchised” students who identify as ‘gay, lesbian, bi or trans.’ Is your school or classroom teacher permitting students to remain silent during instructional time? Even the ACLU and homosexual group Lambda Legal recognize that students have no constitutional right not to speak during instructional time.

Action Alert: Day of Silence Walkout

Friday is the Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network’s (GLSEN) Day of Silence. This is supposedly student organized, yet GLSEN ‘conveniently’ has materials and talking points available for students to use. This is GLSEN’s biggest Day of Action for the school year which also includes “Ally Week” and “Transgender Remembrance Day.”

Action Alert: FCC Wants Your Input

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) wants your input on how it should handle expletives and “brief non-sexual displays of nudity”. Remember the FCC only has say over the content of broadcast TV and radio stations. Currently FCC rules state it is a violation to air obscene programming “at any time” and to air indecent programming or profane language “during certain hours.” They claim to have recently cleared 70 percent of its backlog of complaints — translation they dismissed the concerns of about a million Americans without investigating the complaint!
