News Release: Harrisburg Needs to Pay Attention to These Dangerous Court Decisions

Today the Maryland Court of Appeals ruled unanimously in a homosexual ‘divorce’ case that Maryland must recognize same-sex so-called marriages performed in other states. This action takes place as an effort to gather signatures on a petition to force a marriage referendum on the November ballot is underway. The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA) is again issuing a warning about the need to move HB 1434 through the House and to stop any effort to change the PA Human Relations Act to include “sexual orientation.”

Next Wednesday May 23 the AFA of PA will be participating in a news conference introducing Representative Daryl Metcalfe’s bill to defund Planned Parenthood. It will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the Media Center in the State Capitol.

As you may recall there’s been an ongoing effort to get a Parental Rights Amendment to the US Constitution passed in order to protect parental rights from UN intrusion. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child poses many problems and if that treaty is ratified by the US Senate, all parental rights laws in the US will be null and void!

In 2006 a majority of Colorado voters approved an amendment to their state’s constitution which banned same-sex “marriage.” However, it was a weak one part amendment which did not ban civil unions. This is the second legislative session in a row with attempts to legalize civil unions, thus working around the intentions of the voters in 2006. The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA) has warned about the dangers of these weak one part amendments which only protect the word “marriage.”

President Obama’s “evolution” seems to be complete when it comes to his endorsement of counterfeit marriage. The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA) notes that this is the first time a sitting President of the United States has ever taken such a drastic step to undermine traditional American families.
