According to the Democrats, the attack on the US Capitol on January 6th was President Trump’s fault. In their view he incited an insurrection and he must pay. Within days Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi called on Vice President Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment and declare President Trump incapable of executing the duties of his office. Vice President Pence refused to take that action, so the next step for the Democrat-controlled House was to rush to impeach President Trump one week before he left office on noon January 20th. On January 13th, the US House held one seven-hour session and called for a vote to impeach. Now the articles of impeachment have been marched over to the Democrat-controlled Senate for an impeachment trial. But can someone who is not in office be impeached??
