Blog Post – Another March on Washington, DC

Others have written about the stark differences between the “Women’s March,” which took place the day after President Trump’s inauguration, and the “March for Life” which took place on January 27th.  The “Women’s March” was full of obscenity and vulgarity with a major emphasis on a woman’s particular body part and the “right” to abortion.  In essence, it concentrated on the participants’ desire to have the “freedom” to do what they what, with whomever they want and not have to “deal” with any consequences (i.e. pregnancy) that may result from those actions.   They believe their desire for a feeling of belonging or wholeness can be obtained through sexual licentiousness.  As all believers in Christ know, there is only one way to wholeness and that is through turning away from sin and surrendering to Jesus Christ.   Trying any other way will only lead down the path to destruction.

While the “Women’s March” concentrated on the desire to be able to fix “a mistake” that happened as a result of sexual activity  and that “mistake” was going to interfere with a career or other future plans (abortion on demand), the “March for Life” concentrated on life and the holocaust that has occurred since the Supreme Court decisions of 1973.  At the time the Justices ‘discovered’ the right to privacy in the United States Constitution and forced abortion on the entire country.  Prior to that time some states had legalized abortion, while others protected their most vulnerable citizens – babies in their mother’s womb.

On January 22, 1973 the U.S. Supreme Court issued its ruling in Roe v. Wade, finding that a “right of privacy” it had earlier discovered was “broad enough to encompass” a right to abortion and adopting a trimester scheme of pregnancy. In the first trimester, a state could enact virtually no regulation. In the second trimester, the state could enact some regulation, but only for the purpose of protecting maternal “health.” In the third trimester, after viability, a state could ostensibly “proscribe” abortion, provided it made exceptions to preserve the life and “health” of the woman seeking abortion. Issued on the same day, Doe v. Bolton defines “health” to mean “all factors” that affect the woman, including “physical, emotional, psychological, familial, and the woman’s age.”

Those advocating for the legalization of abortion assured us that abortions would be rare and all children born in the US would be loved and wanted because mothers now had a choice when they became pregnant.  We were also told that the legalization of abortion would prevent the 10,000 or more back alley abortions performed in the United States each year.  But the facts show quite the opposite.  Did you know a report of child abuse is made every ten seconds in the United States!   In fact, according to the CDC, Adverse Childhood Experiences Study, the US has one of the worst records among industrialized nations – losing an average between four and seven children every day to child abuse and neglect!   We are reminded how life has been cheapened whenever we read of a teenage mom throwing her newborn into the trash or allowing the baby to drown in the toilet.

The late Dr. Bernard Nathanson, Co-founder of National Association for Repeal of Abortion Laws, now called National Abortion Reproductive Rights Action League (NARAL) revealed the tactics and lies that were used to sway the courts. After seeing the ultrasound of an abortion, Dr. Nathanson became a pro-life author and activist.  Watch his video “The Silent Scream” here   (viewers discretion is advised).

“We fed the public a line of deceit, dishonesty, a fabrication of statistics and figures. We succeeded because the time was right and the news media cooperated. We sensationalized the effects of illegal abortions, and fabricated polls which indicated that 85 percent of the public favored unrestricted abortion, when we knew it was only 5 percent. We unashamedly lied, and yet our statements were quoted [by the media] as though they had been written in law.”

As noted by Dr. Nathanson, the media in the early ’70s was more than willing to mass produce the “fact’ that the majority of Americans supported abortion and wanted it made legal.  Interesting how times really haven’t changed!  The media reported extensively on the so-called “Women’s March” on January 21st, but barely mentioned the “March for Life”  and when they did mention the march that took place on January 27th, it was always an “anti-abortion” march and not a “march for life.”   One organizer was asked to compare the size of the “March for Life” with the “Women’s March,” but she didn’t take the bait.  Instead she responded that the only number they were concerned about was 58,000,000 – the number of dead American babies since those terrible Supreme Court decisions in 1973!
