Blog Post — Municipalities and the Bathroom Issue
Apparently, some city and borough councils and township supervisors within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania do not understand the ramifications of adding ‘sexual orientation and gender identity or expression’ to their anti-discrimination ordinances. They’re being led to believe, by the proponents of this change, that it is all about stopping discrimination and will bring economic boom to their community.
In reality, it’s all about discrimination — that is discrimination against those with deeply health religious beliefs that engaging in homosexual acts is wrong and sinful in God’s eyes. As Christians we are to speak the truth to a lost and dying world. In fact, the only compassionate reaction is to speak of the known dangers of a particular lifestyle choice. The dangers of living the homosexual, bisexual, and transgender lifestyles are countless. One quick example is syphilis — According to the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, cases of syphilis among local men who have sex with men are on the rise — quadrupled since 2005!
Examples abound of Christian business owners who have been fined for refusing to use their God-given talents to participate in a same-sex “wedding.” These include bakers, florists, photographers, bed and breakfast owners to list only a few. That’s not even discussing the danger of opening wide bathroom, locker and shower room doors when such ordinances add “gender identity or expression.”
Yes, these ordinances are all about discrimination. They are designed to force ALL citizens to celebrate those lifestyles or be called a hater, a bigot or have a formal complaint filed against and possibly fined. The ultimate goal is to coerce all Americans to change their views of lifestyles which have historically been considered perverted.
Some leaders in local municipalities fully understand what the changes mean, others are blind to the ramifications as they show support for such language, and still others don’t want to take a stand against what has become such a political ‘hot potato.’ The few local government leaders who do have the courage to say ‘no’ against this onslaught need to be thanked and encouraged because the attacks against them will be great.
It is time for all Pennsylvanians who still regard men in women’s facilities wrong and dangerous to stand up to fight these dangerous and discriminatory ordinances before it is too late.
As Edmund Burke said, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
