Pastor Scott Lively is in Court Today – please pray

Details

As I write this Pastor Scott Lively with Defend the Family  is in US District Court in Springfield, Massachusetts.  He is being represented by our good friends at Liberty Counsel.  In March 2012 a foreign group called Sexual Minorities Uganda (SMUG) sued Pastor Scott “for the decade-long campaign he has waged, in coordination with his Ugandan counterparts, to persecute persons on the basis of their gender and/or sexual orientation and gender identity.”

The case is brought under the Alien Tort Statute which allows certain aliens to sue in the US for torts committed against them in the US.  SMUG accuses Pastor Scott of violating “international law” by sharing his Biblical views of homosexuality during a visit to Uganda in 2009.  A George Soros-funded “civil rights” group is representing SMUG.

Having met Pastor Scott in August 2011 and having interviewed him several times for my program, I can vouch for him.  He does not hate or persecute homosexuals or other “sexual minorities.”  He is a bold man of God who does not hesitate to speak the Biblical truth about sin.   Click here to listen to a recent interview with Pastor Lively.

Action Steps

Pray for Pastor Scott and Liberty Counsel attorneys as they face this international threat to silence him and the Biblical truth he speaks in a country whose leaders have sought his counsel and advice.  However, they have not always taken it.  One example is their inclusion, originally, of the death penalty for “aggressive homosexuality.”  Pastor Scott vehemently opposed this provision, although the media completely twisted the story to make it appear the provision was actually his idea.  Pray!
