Dangerous Proposal — Obama Opens Bathroom Doors to All
(Harrisburg) — Today the Obama Administration will send a letter to every school district in America telling them to open their bathroom, locker and shower room doors to boys who think they are girls and vice versa. This insane and dangerous directive is strongly opposed by the American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), a statewide child advocacy organization.
“The language of Title IX has not changed, but has been reinterpreted by this Administration, the Department of Justice and Department of Education in their efforts to continue this great social experiment of eliminating the line between male and female! Yes, these sexually confused students should be given help, but to encourage them in their delusion of being the opposite sex is not helpful, but harmful. Our children are once again being used as guinea pigs,” commented Diane Gramley, president of the AFA of PA.
According to a copy of the letter received by the New York Times, schools are being told that federal law requires them “to ensure nondiscrimination on the basis of sex requires schools to provide transgender students equal access to educational programs and activities even in circumstances in which other students, parents, or community members raise objections or concerns.” Threats of the loss of federal education dollars are attached to the letter!
However, it says on page 86 of the US Department of Justice Office of Civil Rights Manual: Under the Title IX common rule, recipients of federal financial assistance must not discriminate in providing facilities on the basis of sex. A recipient may provide separate toilet, locker room, and shower facilities on the basis of sex. However, such facilities provided to one sex must be comparable to the facilities provided to the other sex. 65 Fed. Reg. at 52871.
“The concerns of parents, community members i.e. tax payers and the vast majority of students are to be ignored while a tiny fraction of students who identify as the gender opposite their birth sex are to be given access to the bathroom, locker and shower rooms they want to use. President Obama has once again taken a plainly written law and reinterpreted it to further his efforts to fundamentally change America,” further commented Gramley.
As Dr. Paul McHugh, who for forty years served as the University Distinguished Service Professor of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins Medical School — twenty-six of which were also spent as Psychiatrist in Chief of Johns Hopkins Hospital — wrote last June, ” What is needed now is public clamor for coherent science—biological and therapeutic science—examining the real effects of these efforts to “support” transgendering. Although much is made of a rare “intersex” individual, no evidence supports the claim that people such as Bruce Jenner have a biological source for their transgender assumptions. Plenty of evidence demonstrates that with him and most others, transgendering is a psychological rather than a biological matter.
In fact, gender dysphoria—the official psychiatric term for feeling oneself to be of the opposite sex—belongs in the family of similarly disordered assumptions about the body, such as anorexia nervosa and body dysmorphic disorder. Its treatment should not be directed at the body as with surgery and hormones any more than one treats obesity-fearing anorexic patients with liposuction. The treatment should strive to correct the false, problematic nature of the assumption and to resolve the psychosocial conflicts provoking it. With youngsters, this is best done in family therapy. ”
