Action Alert: Ask Senators to Vote “No” on Hagel

Yesterday afternoon by a vote of 14-11 the Senate Armed Services Committee voted to advance Chuck Hagel to the full Senate for a vote on his confirmation to be the next Secretary of Defense. Senator Harry Reid plans on bringing Hagel’s name to the floor of the Senate for a vote by the end of the week.

Action Alert: Committee Vote on Hagel Tomorrow

Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mich.), the Senate Armed Services Committee’s chairman, announced this morning the vote would go forward tomorrow just a day after his panel’s top Republican, Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK), threatened to hold up Hagel’s confirmation. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) has also threatened to put a hold on Hagel.

The Tuesday committee vote would allow Hagel to come to the floor as soon as Thursday, ahead of the Senate’s recess next week.

News Release – Boy Scouts Postpone Vote, But Need to Eject Board Members

In response to pressure from individuals and groups holding traditional values, the Boy Scouts (BSA) announced today they will postpone until May a vote on possibly lifting the ban on homosexual leaders and members. The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA) urges the Boy Scouts to remove members of their own Executive Board who are pressuring them to go against the Boy Scout motto.
