Senate to Vote on Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act
Details
Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE) has introduced S 311 the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. The bill requires that, when an abortion results in the live birth of an infant, health care practitioners must exercise the same degree of professional skill and care to protect the newborn as would be offered to any other child born alive at the same gestational age. It also requires that the living child, after appropriate care has been given, be immediately transported and admitted to a hospital.
Currently federal law does not adequately protect a born child who survives an abortion.
There are currently 49 co-sponsors – all Republicans. Senator Pat Toomey is one of those Republicans! Senator Bob Casey, Jr. who claims to be pro-life should become the first Democrat to co-sponsor the bill!
Action Steps
A vote on S 311 is planned possibly as early as late afternoon on February 25th. Contact Senator Bob Casey, Jr. and ask him to vote ‘yea’ on S 311.
