Importance of the Senate Majority Leader Race
Details
Last Tuesday Donald Trump won his second term as President of the United States. He is only the second person to win two non-consecutive terms – Grover Cleveland being the first. In recent hours it was determined that the Republicans have gained a majority (218 members) in the US House. And, yes, the GOP controls the US Senate. However, the person chosen to be the Senate Majority leader will largely determine how successful President Trump will be in the next two years.
In 2016 when Donald Trump won his first term, the GOP also controlled the White House, US House and US Senate. Unfortunately, Congressman Paul Ryan was the Speaker of the House and he did not “like” President Trump and worked hard to stymie President Trump’s agenda. Within two years the GOP lost the House to the Democrats and Nancy Pelosi became Speaker of the House and . . . the rest is history!
There’s a good chance Mike Johnson will continue on as Speaker of the House; now the problem may be in the US Senate.
According to President Trump, the two establishment candidates – Senator John Coryn of Texas and Senator John Thune – are “RINOs.” Cornyn is known for furthering gun control, co-sponsoring Biden’s Bipartisan Safer Communities Act and allowing Obamacare’s access into public schools and undermining parental consent in their child’s healthcare.
Senator John Thune was mentored by Senator Mitch McConnell to be his successor and we know how much Mitch McConnell “loves” President Trump!!
Senator Rick Scott of Florida is the only candidate for Senate Majority Leader who has shown loyalty to President Trump’s Make America Great Again agenda. Additionally, President Trump has endorsed him.
Tomorrow the US Senate will hold a secret vote behind closed doors to determine who the next Majority Leader will be. This individual will play a major role in helping or hindering President Trump as he seeks to fix the problems our nation faces, many of which were created or exacerbated in the past four years. The next Senate Majority Leader will also play a role in getting President Trump’s nominees – including possibly two in the US Supreme Court – confirmed. MUCH is at stake in tomorrow’s election in the US Senate.
Action Steps
Yes, the White House has been won, but we need a conservative Senate Majority Leader. Click here to contact Senator John Fetterman and ask him to support Rick Scott to be the next Senate Majority Leader. I know, he may not listen, BUT he needs to know the views of his constituents! At this point, Senator Bob Casey, Jr. has not conceded even though the Associated Press has called the race for Dave McCormick. Casey has hired a liberal attorney in his fight to keep his seat.
