Did Schools Heed the Warning?

(Harrisburg) –   The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), a member of the Day of Silence Walkout Coalition,   warned schools – especially those in Delaware and Montgomery Counties – about the dangers of the Day of Silence.  As was noted in the communication with school districts, “The Day of Silence – April 15^th —  is a day when students who identify as homosexual, bisexual or transgender (GLBT) and their “allies” remain silent to bring attention to the supposed silence imposed upon those who identify as GLBT.   The instigator of the Day of Silence and other homosexuality-affirming days is the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN). GLSEN’s central goal is not to end bullying. Its central goal is to transform the moral beliefs of the nation’s children through our public schools.”

“The Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network has turned many public high schools and now middle schools into social engineering institutions during their ‘Days of Action.’  The biggest one is the Gay Day of Silence.  Students have no right to remain silent during instructional time and even two of the biggest supporters of the Day of Silence, the ACLU and Lambda Legal, recognize this,” remarked Diane Gramley, President of the AFA of PA.

The Day of Silence is disruptive as is evidenced by posts on the Day of Silence Facebook page.  Schools should not permit students to remain silent during instructional time.  Parents send their children to school to learn academics, not to have the classroom hijacked by pro-homosexual indoctrination.

“Our letter to schools reminded them of their responsibility to carry on classes as usual and not bow to the whims of those who may be participating in the Day of Silence.  To permit students or teachers to remain silent is a disservice to teachers who come to teach, students who came to learn and the taxpayers,” Gramley noted.

The unanswered question:  Did Pennsylvania taxpayers get their money’s worth today when students went to school or was the day sidelined by pro-homosexual activism?
