Issue

Ask Congress to Stop Transgenders in the Military

Details

Article I, Section 8 of the US Constitution states in the enumerated powers that Congress shall “make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces.”   So . . .  can any administration, independent of Congress, change the rules and regulation of our military?  NO!

Yet, as you recall, that is exactly what former Secretary of Defense Ashe Carter did when he changed rules and said the military must allow open transgenders to serve!  The process began with those already in the military to be allowed to serve openly.   Was it an effort to desensitize Americans to the idea of men who claim to be women to be able to serve as a woman?  The new policy was to be implemented on July 1, 2017.

However, the current Secretary of Defense, General James Mattis, has put a six month delay to this lunacy.  That’s January 1, 2018 when Americans will be distracted with Christmas and the New Year!  Here’s what actually happened:  General Mattis allowed Obama holdover Deputy Secretary of Defense Robert O. Work to broker a deal that whittled the Army, Air Force and Marines’  requested two-year delay down to only six months!  It is apparent that the military is very concerned about the prospects of men in the women’s ranks and vice versa. This will not lead to greater military readiness nor unit cohesion and here are a few reasons why Americans should be very concerned:

  • It will cost the US government $3.7 billion dollars in 10 years!
  • Commanders, doctors, and nurses are expected to comply with all implementation orders without question or dissent, regardless of personal convictions or concerns about medical ethics.
  • Infringements on personal privacy
  • Side effects from transgender treatments and surgeries will negatively affect combat deployability and readiness
  • Open-ended costs for lifetime hormone treatments and sometimes irreversible surgeries.

Action Steps

However, there is an effort to stop this permanently!

Representative Vicky Hartzler (R-MO) is expected to introduce an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act of 2018 (NDAA) that would put an end to this effort to further weaken our military.

Contact your US Representative and ask him to vote for Congresswoman Hartzler’s amendment to the NDAA that would stop implementation of the previous administration’s transgender policy.
