Ask Senators Brooks and Robinson to Hold the Line
Details
Paid lobbyist Rick Santorum is pressuring state senators to vote for SR 152, A Concurrent Resolution petitioning the Congress of the United States to call a Convention for proposing amendments pursuant to Article V of the Constitution of the United States . . . “ This is an extremely dangerous proposal! Two senators are not giving into the pressure – Michelle Brooks (Crawford and Mercer Counties, parts of Erie and Warren Counties) and Devlin Robinson (Washington County (part) and Allegheny County (part).
In the last paragraph of Federalist No. 85, Alexander Hamilton said he dreads the consequences of another convention because “powerful individuals, in this and in other States are enemies to a general national government in every possible shape.” And that was stated before the likes of anti-American billionaires like George Soros and Bill Gates!
In a June 1988 letter to Eagle Forum president Phyllis Schlafly, Chief Justice Warren Burger wrote, “. . . there is no effective way to limit or muzzle the actions of a Constitutional Convention. After a Convention is convened, it will be too late to stop the Convention if we don’t like its agenda. . . A new Convention could plunge our Nation into constitutional confusion and confrontation at every turn. . . .”
On April l7, 2014, during a panel discussion, Justice Antonin Scalia said, “I certainly would not want a Constitutional Convention. I mean whoa. Who knows what would come out of that?” In 2017, the United States Justice Foundation wrote a legal policy paper “The Dangerous Proposals for States to Apply for an Article V Constitutional Convention”.
