Ask Your US Congressman to Sign Onto the Parental Rights Amendment

Details

On Wednesday, January 30 Congressman Jim Banks (R-IN) introduced
HJ Res 36 the Parental Rights Amendment in the US House.   There were 15 original co-sponsors – none from PA!

Upon introduction of the constitutional amendment Representative Banks said, “It was not the intention of our Founding Fathers to leave government bureaucrats and elected officials in charge of deciding what is in the best interest of someone else’s child.”

Parentalrights.org noted:  The proposed Amendment would provide that “the liberty of parents to direct the upbringing, education, and care of their children is a fundamental right.” Proponents believe the measure would correct a 2000 Supreme Court ruling that robbed parental rights of key constitutional protections, leaving the family vulnerable to a wide range of interpretations in lower federal and state courts.

Action Steps

Contact your US Representative and ask him or her to co-sponsor HJ Res 36.  In today’s world, it is especially important to protect the rights of parents to direct the upbringing of their children.
