Ask Your Senator to Sign Onto This Bill to Repeal Act 77
Details
Senators Doug Mastriano and Patrick Stefano are currently circulating a co-sponsorship memo for a bill they plan to introduce in the near future that would repeal Act 77 stating, “It is our view that the people of Pennsylvania should have the final say in how Pennsylvania conducts future elections.”
The co-sponsorship memo also notes that “using the COVID-19 pandemic as a pretense, the Wolf Administration, together with the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, threw Act 77 into disarray.” NOTE: We totally agree with that part, but the Senators fail to note that no-excuse mail-in ballots which were one provision of Act 77 is clearly unconstitutional per Article VII, Section 14(a) of the PA Constitution!
Adding questions on a statewide ballot referendum for voters to decide on would allow the people of Pennsylvania to repeal provisions of Act 77 to include
- “No excuse” mail-in voting;
- The existence and maintenance of a permanent absentee and mail-in ballot list;
- Absentee ballots allowed to be received late or after election day.
