Democrats Want Women Drafted

Details

The Senate Armed Services Committee approved language in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that would amend the Military Selective Service Act to require the registration of women for the draft.  At this point, the Department of Defense says they will keep an all-volunteer force, but final approval of the NDAA with the change requiring women to register for the draft would put them in line to be drafted for military service if the draft returns.

The inclusion of this amendment to the NDAA is the result of a recommendation from a commission created after the 2016 failed attempt to require women to register for the draft.

Action Steps
