Reminder: Day of Silence is Tomorrow – Have You Contacted Your Child’s School?
Details
As part of the Day of Silence Walkout Coalition, the AFA of PA is asking parents to contact their child’s school — high or middle school — about this year’s Day of Silence. April 15th is Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network’s (GLSEN) Day of Silence. This day of activism is promoted by GLSEN to highlight the forced silence that students who identity as “gay,” lesbian, bisexual or transgender must endure — or so they claim. In actuality it is a day to force the normalization of homosexuality, bisexuality and transgenderism on unsuspecting students. And all this will be under the guise of bullying prevention!
Since GLSEN no longer posts the names of participating schools, parents have to contact their child(ren)’s school to ask specifically if the principal or teacher will allow students to remain silent during instructional time on the Day of Silence. Better yet, email them with that question as Laurie Higgins with the Illinois Family Institute points out in my interview with her. That way you have a paper trail of your exchange with the school. Also, do NOT assume that because your child attends a private school they will not be participating. Sadly, some private schools are part of this day of activism.
If your school acknowledges students and/or teachers will be permitted to remain silent during instructional time or if the school gives an unclear answer, keep your kids home from school that day. Remember some schools will be allowing the Day of Silence on another day besides April 15th.
Action Steps
Call your child’s school TODAY and ask “Will the administration or teachers permit students to remain silent during class time on the Day of Silence?” If the answer is “Yes” or ambiguous, then keep your child home on the Day of Silence.
