AFA of PA ACTION ALERT
April 26, 2021
Issue
Judicial Voter Guides and Info on the 4 Ballot Questions
Details
May 18th is quickly approaching and we will once again be returning to our polling places.
Here are some important dates to remember for this upcoming Primary Election on May 18th:
- May 3 — last day to register to vote
- May 11 — last day to request a mail-in or absentee ballot
- May 18 — all mail-in and civilian absentee ballots must be in by 8:00 p.m.
Special Elections will be held on that same day to fill the seats in Senatorial District 22 (Lackawanna, parts of Luzerne and Monroe Counties), Senatorial District 48 (Lebanon, parts of Dauphin and York Counties), 59th Legislative District (Somerset, part of Westmoreland Counties), 60th Legislative District (Armstrong, Indiana and part of Butler Counties).
Since judicial candidates are more restricted than other candidates in the way they can respond to voter guide questions, the AFA of PA has found one of the best ways to find out the candidates’ judicial philosophy is to find out who has endorsed them. We’ve done research on all the PA Supreme, Superior and Commonwealth Court candidates and created a non-partisan voting guide designed as a two-sided bulletin insert.
Additionally, in a separate document we have information on the 4 ballot questions, including the three proposed constitutional amendments. This is also designed as a two-sided bulletin insert. (Remember, even though PA has a closed primary – meaning only Republicans/Democrats can vote on candidates, all registered voters can vote on these ballot questions.) Remember the constitutional amendments to restrict the governor’s power during an emergency declaration have been deliberately worded in such a way by the Wolf administration to make them appear bad! However, they are not!

Ask your pastor to include these bulletin inserts in the bulletins so voters can be better educated when they go to vote on May 18th.
