Vote to Destroy US Military is Today

Details

Today Congressman Patrick Murphy (PA – 8th) is expected to introduce an amendment to the Defense Authorization Act which would repeal the law which bans homosexuals from serving in the military.  Today the AFA of PA faxed the other 18 Congressmen which represent Pennsylvania and asked them to vote ‘no’ on any efforts to repeal the current law.  Our letter cited documentation defending the ban, here’s a portion:  “Recently a review of  the case synopses of all 1,643 reports of sexual assault reported by the four branches of the military for Fiscal Year 2009 (October 1, 2008 through September 30, 2009) was completed. The startling finding was that over eight percent (8.2%) of all military sexual assault cases were homosexual in nature. This suggests that homosexuals in the military are about three times more likely to commit sexual assaults than heterosexuals are, relative to their numbers.   Additionally if a repeal of the law is passed, victims of sexual assault will be hesitant to report attacks and commanders will be hesitant to punish for fear of being accused of discrimination or homophobia.”

Action Step

Contact your Congressman and ask him or her to vote ‘NO’ on any attempt to repeal the law banning homosexuals in the military.  It is despicable that such an amendment would be introduced under the radar screen to be part of the Defense Authorization Act, a must pass bill to fund our military.  What a betrayal to our troops this Memorial Day weekend!
