Bill Introduced in US Senate to Protect Babies Who Have Been Born Alive

Details

In light of the fact Democrats have recently exposed their support of infanticide, Senator Ben Sasse R-NE)  has introduced S 311 the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.  The bill requires that, when an abortion results in the live birth of an infant, health care practitioners must exercise the same degree of professional skill and care to protect the newborn as would be offered to any other child born alive at the same gestational age. It also requires that the living child, after appropriate care has been given, be immediately transported and admitted to a hospital.

Currently federal law does not adequately protect a born child who survives an abortion.

This from the Senator’s office:  Following tonight’s scheduled roll call votes, U.S. Senator Ben Sasse will ask unanimous consent to pass the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.

There are currently 40 co-sponsors – all Republicans, but it appears PA’s GOP Senator Pat Toomey has not signed on!  Furthermore, Senator Bob Casey, Jr. who claims to be pro-life should become the first Democrat to co-sponsor the bill!

Action Steps

Senator Sasse will request unanimous consent to pass the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act after the 5:30 p.m. (EST) vote series.  Contact both Senator Pat Toomey and Senator Bob Casey, Jr. and ask them to protect babies who have been born alive after a failed abortion attempt.   Ask them to agree to unanimous consent in order to pass S 311 tonight!
