In Case You Haven’t Heard, These are the Ones Who Oppose Our National and Commonwealth Mottoes

Details

Last night the Allegheny County Council voted 8-6 to prohibit the posting of our Nation’s Motto — In God We Trust — the Bill of Rights, E Pluribus Unum and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s motto — Virtue, Liberty and Independence. All Democrats present except one, Bill Robinson, voted against the resolution that would have allowed the posting of the above mentioned. John Palmiere, a Democrat from Baldwin who was a sponsor, did not attend the meeting. Additionally, Democrat Dr. Charles Martoni, a co-sponsor of the resolution, voted against it saying the more he “looked at it”, the more he saw that it was unnecessary. Of course, Monday’s memo from County Executive Rich Fitzgerald telling County Council to vote down the resolution or he would be forced to veto it, played absolutely no part in the defections! Ha!

Republicans Sue Means of Bethel Park (primary sponsor of the resolution), Ed Kress of Shaler, Heather Heidelbaugh of Mt. Lebanon, Jan Rea of McCandless, Tom Baker of Ross and Democrat Bill Robinson of the Hill District voted in favor of it.

Have you contacted your representative on County Council yet?
