Governor Wolf has extended the COVID-19 emergency declaration for another 90 days, but the legislature has just passed a resolution which requires Wolf to rescind the declaration. Governor Wolf says he will “disapprove” the resolution and he will not remove the emergency declaration. The GOP-controlled legislature has threatened to take the issue to court, so . . . are we or aren’t we open? Depends on who you ask! Let your legislators know your thoughts on this vote to reopen all of PA.

Last Week Governor Tom Wolf led marchers through the streets of PA’s state capital holding a sign that read “Black Lives Matter.” The peaceful march was in response to the horrific death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police officers. The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), a statewide advocacy group, questions Governor Wolf’s sincerity in holding that sign.

Two Allegheny County Council members have introduced an ordinance which would ban the use of tear gas and rubber bullets within the county. A first reading of the ordinance is scheduled for tonight. Contact your council members and let them know your thoughts on this change in the law.
Read MoreAmerica is in chaos. Since the horrific killing of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police officers, protestors have taken to the streets demanding justice. Unfortunately, in too many cities these peaceful protests have been co-opted by those with violence and destruction as their goal. In too many cities mayors have not fulfilled their duty to protect their citizens and have allowed the looters and destroyers to take control of the streets, killing and burning. Police are being targeted.
