Action Alert: Have You Contacted the FCC Yet?

Remember the end of April is the deadline for you to leave comments on the proposed changes to the FCC rules on broadcast television and radio obscenity. They propose to allow expletives and “brief non-sexual displays of nudity” during family hour — 6:00 p.m. till 10:00 p.m. The FCC wants to focus on penalizing only “egregious” cases not what they consider “minor” transgressions.

Action Alert: DOJ Wants to Deport This Family

The Romeike family is a German homeschooling family which moved to the United States in August 2008 seeking freedom to homeschool their children. It has been illegal to homeschool in Germany since Hitler’s time. When they left Germany, the parents were facing hefty fines and the government threat of a lien on their home simply because they wanted to homeschool. In January 2010 a federal immigration judge granted the Romeike’s asylum, however in May 2012 the Obama Administration revoked the asylum seeking to deport the family.

Action Alert: Final Vote on Abortion Opt Out

HB 818 was voted out of the House Health Committee on April 15th along a mostly party line vote. On April 17th the House took up HB 818 on second consideration — debating and voting on amendments. All pro-abortion amendments were defeated. Remember passage of this bill would insure that Pennsylvania opts out of abortion funding under the health insurance exchange that will be created by Obamacare.

News Release: Schools Asked Not to Allow Students to Remain Silent

Today is the Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network’s (GLSEN) “Day of Silence” in which it asks students to remain silent throughout the school day in order to show support for those who identify as homosexual. The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA) has contacted many of the schools which have participated in the past, asking them if they will permit students to refuse to respond to questions directed at them during instructional time as a part of the Day of Silence protest. The AFA of PA has asked those schools which have students participating to not permit them to remain silent when called upon by a teacher during class time.
