The US government currently owns more than one quarter of all the land in the United States. That’s around 620 million acres of land. The government owns a portion of every state, although the majority, over 90 percent is concentrated in 12 western states. Some examples: 80 % of Nevada, 61 percent of Alaska (that equals 222.7 million acres- Alaska is the state with the largest land mass owned by the federal government), Idaho 61.9% and Utah 63.1 % are a few examples. Here in PA, the feds own 2.2% of the commonwealth. But they want more!!
