PA Treasurer Declares Support for Counterfeit Marriage

(Harrisburg) —  Pennsylvania Treasurer and Pa gubernatorial candidate Rob McCord has filed an amicus curiae opposing Pennsylvania’s Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).  He is siding with Cara Palladino and Isabelle Barker, who are seeking to have their Massachusetts “marriage” recognized here.     The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA) is outraged that Rob McCord felt compelled to use his current elected position of State Treasurer to become involved in the case trying to force Pennsylvania to recognize same-sex “marriages” performed in other states.

“McCord has taken a step that even our Attorney General Kathleen Kane has chosen not to take – get actively involved in trying to destroy our Defense of Marriage Act.  At least Kane simply chose not to do her job.  His actions are similar to those of Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring.  It appears that Mr. McCord misunderstands the difference between changeable behavior — homosexuality — and unchangeable characteristics such as race and ethnicity,” Diane Gramley, president of the AFA of PA commented.

State Treasurer Rob McCord’s friend of the court brief is 25 pages of ways his job as Treasurer would be easier if same-sex so-called marriage would become legal in Pennsylvania.  He knew what his job entailed when he ran for office.  Could this be a political move to aid in his run for the Democratic nomination for governor?

“McCord needs to do the job he was elected to do — be the state treasurer — and stay out of the marriage debate.  The actions he’s taken in this case are not in his job description.  His job is not to work to destroy natural marriage,” further noted Gramley.

Kent Greenfield, a pro-homosexual author and professor of law, noted in a July 15, 2013 op-ed, ““The arguments supporters of same-sex marriage have made in court do not sufficiently distinguish marriage for lesbians and gay men from other possible claimants to the marriage right. If marriage is about the ability to define one’s own family, what’s the argument against allowing brothers and sisters (or first cousins) to wed?

Is Rob McCord prepared to be a party to those type “marriages” also once the Pandora’s Box is opened, if same-sex so-called marriage is legalized?
