Issues  (check corresponding number in ‘Details’ and ‘Action’ Sections)

1.)  Dancing With the Stars

2.)  Bill to Legalize Same-Sex Marriage Introduced in Harrisburg

Details

1.)  Tonight will be the opening night of “Dancing With the Stars” new season.   Are you a fan of this television program?  Have you heard that one of their newest competitors is the daughter of Sonny and Cher Bono — Chastity?  However Chastity no longer believes she is a girl and recently had her breasts surgically removed by a surgeon, and has been receiving injections of male hormones, but remains unmistakably female from the waist down and now goes by the name Chaz.   Previously she had lived as an ‘out’ lesbian and is a homosexual/transgender activist.  This is not the best choice for what many deem a family-friendly show.  What message does this send many already confused children?   Do you still plan on watching the program?

2.)  Earlier this month State Representative Babette Josephs (D-182) introduced a bill to legalize same-sex marriage in Pennsylvania–HB 1835.  Note the co-sponsors of the bill:   Reps. Tim Briggs (D-149th), Vanessa Lowery Brown (D-190th), Mark Cohen (D-202nd), Dan Frankel (D-23rd), Michael McGeehan (D-173rd), Michael O’Brien (D-175th) and Steven Santarsiero (D-31st).  Basically Josephs is saying marriage is marriage and we need to keep up with New York!

She also introduced HB 1828 which would eliminate an inheritance tax that homosexual couples must pay because they cannot marry.  The government has a vested interest in supporting traditional marriage between one man and one woman because of not only the children that are born, but the stability that a married mom and dad bring to those children in the family unit. This leads to less need for government programs/taxpayer dollars to  support single parent families.  Josephs’ bills would undermine marriage because it equates, for inheritance tax purposes, traditional marriage with same-sex and opposite-sex “committed partners who can prove interdependence.”

Don’t forget that on May 2nd State Representative Daryl Metcalfe introduced a Marriage Protection Amendment ( HB 1434 )  which would be a first step in the two-session process in getting a constitutional amendment before the Pennsylvania voter.  Just last week North Carolina placed a Marriage Protection Amendment on their May ballot.  Why can’t we start the process?  HB 1434 is currently in the House State Government Committee.
