Homosexual Activists Target Dr. Scott Lively — A Rally to Support Him

Details

Word from Dr. Scott Lively from Springfield, MA:  Two days ago a Marxist group called Arise for Social Justice (an Acorn affiliate, I believe) placed a large advertisement in the Springfield Republican newspaper attacking me and our church, Holy Grounds Coffee House.   One of our church members confirmed that Arise was responsible for this ad, and was told that Arise has made its mission to drive our ministry, and me personally, out of Springfield.

Background:  I want to be very clear that it was not my choice to debate the homosexual issue here in Springfield. My wife and I came here in 2008 as missionaries to start an inner-city mission. We moved into one of Springfield’s most troubled neighborhoods and started our church, Holy Grounds Coffee House, on State Street across from STCC. Our focus has been on ministering to the mentally-ill, homeless, drug addicts, alcoholics and other street people while organizing and networking believers in our area to re-Christianize Springfield.

I have not taken a single action in Springfield that could be perceived as hostile to the homosexual community here.  (Scott is also the president of Defend the Family International. ) Nevertheless, I have been targeted all this year, beginning with a “hit piece” in the Boston Globe on January 5th. My strategy until now was to ignore the harassment in the hope that it would end. Clearly, that has not worked.

So, if we cannot ignore it, we must respond to it.

Today, a local Tea Party leader informed me that Arise, using the name “Occupy Springfield,” is soliciting people on Facebook to join in a protest against me at Holy Grounds this Friday the 18th from 1:30 to 3PM.

We will respond with a rally of our own:

Therefore, this e-mail is to sound the trumpet and call all of the supporters of our ministry and all those who stand with the Bible on the issue of homosexuality to a RALLY FOR TRUTH at Holy Grounds Coffee House, from 1:20 to 3PM Friday the 18th.

Action Steps

I first met Scott Lively and his wife at a meeting in Lynchburg, VA in August.  They have been the target of homosexual attacks for years, yet have remained strong in their stand for Biblical truth.  Please pray for them and their ministry in Springfield, MA — especially this Friday between 1:20 and 3:00 p.m.  Click here for my most recent interview with Scott and his warning about the need to take a strong stand because America’s time is running out.
