Issue

Thank the One Who Was the Lone Vote Against This Illegal Power Grab!

Details

According to their website, “The Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, or PHRC, enforces state laws that prohibit discrimination:  the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act, which covers discrimination in employment, housing, commercial property, education and public accommodations; and the Pennsylvania Fair Educational Opportunities Act, which is specific to postsecondary education and secondary vocational and trade schools.  In general, PA law prohibits discrimination based on race; color; religious creed; ancestry; age (40 and over); sex; national origin; familial status (only in housing); handicap or disability and the use, handling or training of support or guide animals for disability.”

Note the first line: “ . . .  enforces state law that prohibits discrimination” and then it goes on and lists what PA law prohibits in the second sentence.   However, on July 31st seven of the PHRC commissioners voted to overstep their legal authority and expand the definition of “sex” in the law to include “sexual orientation and gender identity or expression.”   Only one commissioner voted ‘no.’  Commissioner Gerald Robinson had enough courage to stand up to the pressure from LGBT activists to not take this illegal step.  Only the legislative body can change the law and homosexual activists have tried unsuccessfully for decades to get “sexual orientation and gender identity or expression” added to PA law.   Even now there are bills in both the State House and State Senate that would do just that.

Action Step

Rather than expect the PA Human Relations Commission to forward our thanks to Commissioner Robinson, we’ll work around them and send our thanks by other means!!
