Gay Day of Silence is This Friday!
Details
Friday is the Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network’s (GLSEN) Day of Silence. This is supposedly student organized, yet GLSEN ‘conveniently’ has materials and talking points available for students to use. This is GLSEN’s biggest Day of Action for the school year which also includes “Ally Week” and “Transgender Remembrance Day.”
On Friday, in order to show support for lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders, students pledge to remain silent throughout the school day. Anyone can register any school on the Day of Silence website and, interestingly, in the past few years GLSEN refuses to make that list available to the public.

Action Steps
Call your school to find out if they will allow students to remain silent during instructional time this Friday as part of the Day of Silence. If your child’s school will permit students to remain silent during class time on Friday, keep them home that day. Let your principal know why your child is staying home.
