Confirmation Votes on Radical Nominees EARLY Tomorrow

Details

A vote yesterday to confirm Patricia Millett to the DC Circuit has already swayed that court to the left.  However, President Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid are not satisfied with just a one vote majority for the left, they want two more radical nominees to be confirmed by week’s end!!

FYI:  Senator Bob Casey, Jr. voted to confirm Millett to the DC  Circuit yesterday.   He also voted to confirm Melvin Watt to be the director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency.    A little background on Watts and how bad Casey’s vote was:  This oversight agency was created in 2008 to regulate Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac lending practices.  But Mel Watt is one of the reasons the FHFA was formed after he played a major role in the 2008 housing market collapse, which has since cost taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars.  Watt, along with then-Senator Barney Frank, blocked President Bush’s attempts to limit Fannie Mae’s and Freddie Mac’s exposure to potential bad loans.  They ignored the warning signs of a looming housing bubble and used race demagoguery to force mortgage lenders to change their lending practices to favor “disadvantaged” and minority buyers, many of whom were unqualified to purchase homes by normal lending standards, regardless of race.

As you recall last month Senator Harry Reid nuked the confirmation process by taking away the need for a 60 vote threshold to confirm all nominees.  This means only a simple majority vote of 51 will confirm anyone!   Millett was confirmed by a 56-38 vote with six not voting!!  The other two nominees for the DC Circuit are even more radical than she is!

Here’s a little of what Cornelia Pillard and Robert Leon Wilkins believe:

  • Pillard Thinks Abstinence Education is Unconstitutional.
  • Pillard Finds a New “Right” to Abortion in the Constitution.
  • Pillard Was the Founding Co-Director of a Dangerous Transnational Law Center That Threatens U.S. Constitutional Sovereignty.
  • Pillard Questions Whether Rights are Inalienable.
  • Pillard is Unduly Complimentary of the Anti-American Writings of Her Fellow CTLS Professor Who Celebrates the Demise of American Power and the “Resurrection of a More Just Order.”
  • Pillard Thinks the 1871 Klu Klux Klan Act Should be Used to Punish Pro-Lifers, and Expressed Hope that RICO Would be Used Against Pro-Lifers.
  • Pillard Voices Opposition to “Religious Right” on Life and Abstinence Education.
  • Wilkins Is a Leader with Union Temple Whose Declared “Teacher” and “Leader” is the Head of the Klan-Like “Nation of Islam,” Minister Louis Farrakhan.
  • Wilkins Remains at Union Temple Despite the Fact that The Temple Hosted Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Hosts Farrakhan Near Annually Since 1977, and Hosted the Re-Birth of the Klan-Like Nation of Islam.
  • Wilkins’s Judicial Philosophy Was Shaped by the ACLU Over Two Decades of Involvement as an Intern, a Member, a Client, a Co-Counsel, and an Award Recipient.
  • Wilkins Held that American Citizens do not Have the Right to Purchase Firearms for Self-Defense if Their Primary Residence is Not in the United States.
  • Wilkins Held in Texas v. Holder that a Texas Voter ID Law Was Invalid Because It Would Result in Retrogression in the Position of Minorities for them to Produce Identification.
  • Wilkins Held in Wesby v. District of Columbia that Police Officers Had No Immunity and Were Individually Liable for Nearly $1 Million for Arresting Illegal Prostitution Partiers.

Harry Reid decided Monday that it was in the best interest of the United States Senate to try and expedite the voting on a majority of President Obama’s nominees to the federal bureaucracy “en bloc.”  Reid’s maneuver was thwarted by Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN) who chided Reid, “The Democratic majority changed the rules of the Senate in a way that creates a Senate without rules.  so until I understand how a United States Senator is supposed to operate in a Senate without rules, I object.”

Some more nominees Reid and Obama want confirmed this week:

Jeh Johnson to be Secretary of Homeland Security — Johnson has been noted as being among the key architects of the Obama administration’s counterterrorism and military policies. His key report to Congress was among those cited in the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”   (An Inspector General’s report later found the report to be deeply flawed)  It’s reported that Johnson himself donated more than $100,000 to Barack Obama’s election efforts and is considered among the biggest fundraisers for Obama’s campaigns. Now it’s time for Obama to return the favor.

Chai Feldblum to be a Member of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for a term expiring July 1, 2018 —  Feldblum is credited with being the mind behind the Employment Non-Discrimination Act. She is President Obama’s first openly homosexual commissioner of the EEOC.   Feldblum has been notable in her role as a leader of the LGBT movement to remove Christian morality from the laws of our nation.

Deborah Lee James, of Virginia, to be Secretary of the Air Force.  According to a report in the New York Daily News, “President Obama’s nominee for Secretary of the Air Force was in charge of ‘corporate responsibility’ at defense giant Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) when federal prosecutors arrested two of that company’s executives and several other contractors for fraud in the $700 million CityTime payroll project.    James has no military experience whatsoever but has vast experience living off defense contracts.

An aide to Sen. Harry Reid says the majority leader is prepared to keep the Senate in session around the clock from now until Saturday to approve 10 executive nominations. Republicans have prepared an all-night talkathon Wednesday night that will force a rare 1 a.m. vote on Cornelia Pillard’s nomination to the D.C. Circuit Court.

After that, another cloture vote would be scheduled for approximately 5 a.m.

Action Steps

Go to our ACTION CENTER and ask Senator Bob Casey, Jr. and Senator Pat Toomey to vote “Nay” on each nominee being brought forward this week.   The nuclear option approved by the Senate Democrats (including Bob Casey, Jr.) takes away the constitutional duty of “Advice and Consent” of the Senate, it simply rubber stamps all the President’s nominees.
