Businesses Being Pressured to Publicly Support LGBTQ+ Bill

HB 300 has been reintroduced by State Rep Dan Frankel (D-Allegheny).  The bill would add “sexual orientation and gender identity or expression” to the PA Human Relations Act, which impacts employment, housing and public accommodations.  It was introduced with 69 co-sponsors — all Democrats except Todd Stephens (R-Montgomery County) and Wendi Thomas (R-Bucks County).  With these two, the Democrats can claim it is a “bi-partisan” bill. 

As we’ve seen across the country where such laws have been passed, Christian business owners are the direct targets.  Just ask baker Jack Philips or florist Barronelle Stutzman or cake bakers Aaron and Melissa Klein!!  These name just a handful, but many more have been targeted, fined, cancelled and, in some cases lost their businesses. 

However, LGBTQ+ activists and their Democrat allies in legislatures continue promoting the ideas that

  1. Gay is okay
  2. This lifestyle must not just be tolerated, but must be celebrated and given special protections.
  3. Only total commitment to their cause is acceptable.
  4. Anyone who opposes these ideas are homophobic, transphobic and bigoted.

Of course, these ideas are simply used to intimidate and cancel anyone who opposes their agenda.

LGBTQ groups have started an effort to get businesses to publicly announce their support for HB 300, the misnamed Fairness Act.  Those businesses which celebrated “Gay Pride Month” are finding out that they are expected to make a total commitment to the ‘gay cause’ 24/7.  The group has begun putting out Pride Power and Corporate Shame Lists to pressure businesses to comply with their demands. At this point, four companies which celebrated ‘gay’ pride month, have refused to get involved politically and have not announced their support for HB 300.  They are Wawa, Dick’s Sporting Goods, QVC and Chewy.  LGBTQ+ pressure is mounting to get them to announce their support for the bill. 

Make sure to check out the more than 65 businesses which have publicly announced their support for this discriminatory bill.   As you read down through the list, perhaps you may want to reconsider your buying habits.

Action Steps

  1.  Contact your State Rep and ask him or her to oppose the misnamed ‘Fairness Act” — HB 300.
  2. Contact the four businesses which have thus far refused to publicly support HB 300.  Remind them they need to stay out of the legislative process and stick with selling their products!   Here’s their contact info:
