AFA of PA ACTION ALERT
December 3, 2014
Issue
Stop Obama’s Amnesty Executive Order
Details
The US government’s 2015 fiscal year began October 1st, but a budget has not been passed. Instead a continuing resolution was passed to fund the government through December 11th, thus kicking the can down the road until after the November 4th election. Well . . . on November 4th the American people sent a clear message to Washington that we are tired of the way things have been going in that town by handing the Senate over to the Republicans and increasing the Republican majority in the House. But, did the Republican leadership hear the voters? It appears some have become deaf to the demands for change from the American people!
House Speaker John Boehner is proposing a two-part plan to “block” Obama’s executive action on amnesty, which in essence does anything but!! Under the plan, the House will vote on two bills. Congressman Ted Yoho’s (R-FL) bill that prohibits the executive branch from exempting from deportation “persons unlawfully present in the United States” may come up for a vote as early as Thursday. This is simply a symbolic effort, as it is dead on arrival in the Senate with Senator Harry Reid still in control there. The second part of the plan is to consider an appropriations bill that funds all the government through September 2015, but only funds the Department of Homeland Security until March. Senator Harry Reid loves the plan — so that should tell us something!
