Details
May 16th – Primary Election Day – is quickly approaching. There are only three statewide races – PA Supreme Court, Superior Court and Commonwealth Court.
The PA Supreme Court makes the final decisions interpreting Pennsylvania’s laws and Constitution and hears cases involving issues of immediate public importance arising from any court in the Commonwealth, but primarily hearing appeals from the PA Superior and Commonwealth Courts.
The Commonwealth Court presides over civil actions brought by and against the Pennsylvania state government and hears appeals primarily in cases involving state departments and local governments.
The Superior Court handles criminal, family, and civil cases that are appealed by county Courts of Common Pleas.
Each judicial candidate was contacted at least twice about filling out our questionnaire, but the majority chose to ignore it. That in itself says a lot about a candidate!
Action Steps
The AFA of PA has just posted our PA Supreme Court voter guide and our Superior/Commonwealth Court voter guides. These are non-partisan and designed as bulletin inserts. They are perfectly legal for churches to use, since they are simply informational and not advocating for one candidate over another.
