National Day of Prayer 2021

Details

The National Day of Prayer was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the US Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.  The annual observance is held the first Thursday of May.

The National Day of Prayer Task Force encourages “Praying into Seven Centers of Influence in Our Nation”:

Government:  pray for our elected leaders from the President to school board members

Military:  pray for the military – for their safety, for sane policies coming down from those in authority, for the families who are waiting back home, for the chaplains who minister to those in uniform.

Media:  this covers the news media to the entertainment media — all which has an impact on our nation, whether for good or evil.  Pray that the Christians who are involved in the media would be emboldened to take a stand for Christ.

Business:  Pray for the owners and employees of businesses from the corporation to the mom and pop store down the street.  That they would seek to be principled and honest in their dealings.

Education:  This great influencer of our nation’s future as they teach America’s next leaders to either love or hate our country, love or hate representative government, love or hate values that have long been held by the majority of Americans.  Pray that our children would stop being indoctrinated that alternative lifestyles are safe and normal.  Pray that schools would get back to the business of educating in academics rather than indoctrinating in anti-American rhetoric.

Church:  Pray that the church would regain its rightful role in society.  Pray that the church would once again impact this nation for God.  Pray that the church would boldly share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Family:  Pray for the reunification of fractured families.  Pray that the nation would once again recognize the true meaning of marriage and family.  Pray that families in America would once again become strong as they gather around a family altar for worship and prayer.  Pray that parents would take seriously the Biblical mandate to train their children at home in the fear of the Lord and not leave the responsibility to others.
