Committee Vote on Ginsburg Replacement Will be Thursday, October 22Details

President Trump has nominated Seventh Circuit Court Judge Amy Coney Barrett to replace the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg.   During her confirmation hearings last week, the Democrat members of the Senate Judiciary Committee peppered her with questions about her originalist views on the US Constitution and asked her to reveal how she would rule on potential future cases.  According to judicial canon, judicial nominees or candidates are not permitted to do this, but that didn’t stop the Democrats from trying!  They also asked her to recuse herself from certain upcoming Supreme Court cases, which she refused to do.  Let’s face it, the hearings did not change any votes by the end of the four-day process.  Now the Senate Judiciary Committee will be voting on Judge Barrett.  If she makes it out of committee, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has said he will bring Barrett up before the full Senate for a vote on Monday.

Action Steps

Neither Senator Bob Casey, Jr. nor Senator Pat Toomey are on the Senate Judiciary Committee, however you can contact the members of the Committee and ask them to support the confirmation of Judge Barrett to the United States Supreme Court.  The best way to contact them is by calling (202)224-5225.
