Contact AG Josh Shapiro About Investigation Into Nursing Home Deaths

Details

As of today, there have been 7,176 COVID-19 cases in PA.  Of those, 4,887 — 68% — are in nursing homes!  Those deaths are due largely to the March nursing home policy issued by PA Health Secretary Dr. “Rachel” Levine.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro has announced an investigation into nursing home deaths, but has indicated PA Health Secretary Dr. “Rachel” Levine’s policy will not be part of the investigation!!  Remember that policy required nursing homes to take residents even if they tested positive for COVID-19On June 25, the US House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis, sent Shapiro a letter noting that as a result of Levine’s policy over three percent of PA’s nursing home population has died!  The letter asked that the Wolf Administration’s nursing home policy be included in the investigation and the findings be made public.

On July 6, Shapiro’s office confirmed receipt of the letter, acknowledged that it is aware of the concerns expressed therein, and assured Pennsylvanians that the Attorney General’s office is conducting a ‘thorough, holistic, and wide-ranging investigation’ into Coronavirus and Pennsylvania’s nursing homes ‘using all the tools the office has available.’
