Coming Out Day in Lycoming County Was Wrong and Dangerous

(Harrisburg)  – On Saturday, October 8, 2022 the first ever pride event was held in Lycoming County.   Williamsport LGBT Community Outreach promoted the event.  According to the mission statement found on their website, they want to make “Williamsport and surrounding areas a welcoming place for people of all sexual orientations and gender expressions.”  They also want to create “support systems in education facilities”.    Drag queen and political activist Tina Burner was the host for the event.  The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), a statewide advocacy group, opposes the polices endorsed by Williamsport LGBT Community Outreach and Tina Burner and recognizes the danger to children those policies pose.  Conditioning children to believe the absurdity that they or anyone could be “born into the wrong body,” and that a lifetime of chemical and surgical impersonation of the opposite sex is normal and healthful is child abuse.

“The purpose of these type events is to normalize dangerous behavior.  Impressionable children are especially vulnerable to the messages relayed at such events – “It’s okay for men to dress as women”, “Some boys may really be girls”, “Some girls may really be boys“, You may have been born gay”.  The overall message, wrapped as entertainment, is that it’s perfectly normal to be gay or transgender and this is a very dangerous message,” commented Diane Gramley, president of the AFA of PA.

The reason these events are falsely labeled “family-friendly” is to cover up their true goal and that is early sexualization of children.  Too many library books found in public libraries and public elementary schools do the same thing.   A recent study published in Pediatrics suggests that children who claim a transgender identity and undergo early social transition rarely change their minds at least until their early teen years.  However, the parents of those children will be “encouraged” to place their child on puberty blocks as they near that age.  These puberty blockers arrest bone growth, decrease bone density, and prohibit the maturation of the child’s brain.   These children, who are then placed on cross sex hormones, are permanently sterilized.

Even the American Psychological Association’s Handbook of Sexuality and Psychology admits that prior to the widespread promotion of transition affirmation, 75 to 95 percent of pre-pubertal children who were distressed by their biological sex eventually outgrew that distress. The vast majority came to accept their biological sex by late adolescence after passing naturally through puberty.

It should also be noted that Williamsport LGBT Community Outreach’s website lists its first project as providing kits to every high school in Lycoming County.  Did the schools accept these kits?

“Gender confusion and the normalization of homosexuality and transgenderism are the goals of such events.  The citizens of Lycoming County need to take steps to protect their children from this indoctrination whether it be at events such as that held on October 8th or in public libraries or public schools. Parents need to be pro-active in protecting their children,” Gramley concluded.
