No matter how frustrated we are about the outcome of the November election and the questions that still remain unanswered, as citizens it is our duty to vote whenever the polls are open. Then Congressman James Garfield ( he later became our twentieth President) said, “Now, more than ever before, the people are responsible for the character of the Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless, and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness and corruption. If it be intelligent, brave, and pure, it is because the people demand these high qualities . . .” That could be said of any political office! Get out and vote!

It’s one of the last things a parent wants to encounter—a social worker at the door with allegations of child abuse. Surprisingly, such allegations can be based on little more than a “gut feeling.” Those mandated to report potential child abuse are apparently encouraged to base their suspicions on signs that appear to have only a vague connection to child abuse and even may be based on the accuser’s feelings.

Liz Cheney is out as number 3 in GOP leadership in the US House, but the very bad news is House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has endorsed liberal New York Congresswoman Elsie Stefanik to take Cheney’s place. She voted against President Trump’s Tax Cut and Jobs Bill Act of 2017, voted against money for the border wall, voted against defunding Planned Parenthood in Medicaid, voted for the Equality Act. All bad news and what a terrible message to the grassroots, if she is voted into that position.
