Blog Post – The Betrayal of Corporate America
When you shop, do you ever consider how a company spends its profits? Increasingly Christians need to be aware of the policies of corporations that gladly take our money on products they offer and then turn around and support those things we know to be harmful to society or extend dangerous policies. A perfect example is Target and the fact that over 1 million people have signed AFA National’s Boycott Target petition. Why? Because anyone with ANY common sense knows allowing men into the women’s restroom and fitting rooms is dangerous! Those men who identify as women may not be the problem, but there have been numerous stories of male sexual predators who have taken advantage of these type policies that give them easy access to their next victim. How can you tell which one is the sexual predator?
Right now Target is the primary focus, but there are so many more corporations that agree with Target’s policy. Since last spring when Indiana attempted to pass a strong Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) that would have protected Christian business owners of flower shops, bakeries, bed and breakfasts, etc., from being sued for refusing to participate in so-called same-sex weddings, too many corporations have shown their true colors in being willing to advance the homosexual agenda. Last spring they moved from Indiana to Arkansas where Walmart put pressure on that state’s governor not to sign a RFRA.
This year the same thing happened in Georgia as its Republican governor refused to sign a bill to protect Christian business owners. Shortly after the cowardly actions of Georgia Governor Nathan Deal, North Carolina and Mississippi governors bravely signed laws to slow the advancement of the homosexual agenda in their states. North Carolina has been under intense pressure to rescind the law, which constitutionally disallows municipalities from passing laws which go above and beyond what the state legislature has passed . Thankfully the governor and legislative body continues to stand strong. One thing that has been revealed in the North Carolina situation especially is the clear evidence that it is the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) that is behind this sudden corporate activism. As you recall, HRC is the largest homosexual lobby group in the nation and they have been approaching corporations for decades to add sexual orientation and now gender identity to their corporate policies. In recent years they started the Corporate Equality Index which scores corporations on how “gay-friendly” they are. They keep changing the criteria in order for corporations to maintain their 100% rating — which unfortunately, too many corporations want to do. HRC ups the ante to where corporations are becoming more and more “gay-friendly” and less and less family-friendly.
Here are a few more examples. Did you know Kelloggs, Cisco, Johnson & Johnson, McDonalds, Wells Fargo, Target, State Farm Bank, the NBA, Morgan Stanley, Merck, Mattel, Massachusetts Mutual, IBM, Hewlett Packard, Hilton Worldwide, HBO, Google, Goldman Sachs, Facebook, Dream Works, Disney/ABC Television Group, Comcast/NBC Universal, Citibank, Cologate/Palmolive, and AT&T are corporate sponsors of the Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network (GLSEN)? Look at that list long and hard! They are all okay with boys in girls’ restrooms, locker and shower rooms at your local high school! They are all okay with kids being taught “gay is okay.” They are all okay with kids being assigned sexually explicit reading material which glorifies homosexual sex. They are all okay with GLSEN’s overall agenda. How much money do Christian parents spend each year in order to give these companies the profit in which they corporately support GLSEN?
PayPal announced shortly after Governor McCrory of North Carolina signed HB 2 they will not move 400 jobs to that state. But according to the Heritage Foundation, PayPal continues offering services in Mauritania, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Somalia, and other countries where homosexuality may be punished with the death penalty, and in Nigeria, where homosexual conduct may be punished with caning, imprisonment, or death by stoning. So . . . why are they so willing to punish North Carolina simply for saying men should use the men’s bathroom and women should use the women’s bathroom, while they ignore the draconian laws of their international partners? My guess is the Human Rights Campaign!
Christians beware where you shop – those once friendly corporations may not be as friendly as in times past. Do your homework and don’t allow your dollars to be used against you and what you believe!
